Obusite is a 2021 Survival Horror/Stealth-Based Game created by Darkest Room Studio as part of a game-making assignment for the 2021 Technocité Gaming Training Course.

You play a small, helpless child trapped in a giant mansion overrun with nightmarish rooms and a Monstrous Humanoid who, with the act of photography, wishes to steal your soul.

Obusite contains examples of:

  • Advancing Boss of Doom: The Old Man will pursue you through a large room, and your only hope is to run all the way to the other side.
  • Berserk Button: When you turn the light on in a darkroom, you hear a monster shriek and the room shake, implying that ruining his photos is this for the Old Man.
  • Hope Spot: At various points you can see a way out — open doors, open windows, etc. — only for the metaphorical rug to be ripped out from under your feet, either falling into hidden caverns before you can get to it or the window being closed by the Old Man.
  • Humanoid Abomination: You are routinely stalked by an elderly man with a camera for a face who can phase through walls (or at least with a mirror hanging off of it) and it can turn you into a photograph if he gets close enough.
  • Macro Zone: All of the stages are huge, with oversized furniture where your height couldn't cover the seats of chairs.
  • Motifs: Cameras and photos. The Big Bad of the game is an elderly man with an vintage camera for a face. After escaping him, you happen upon a camera set on a tripod hiding behind a painting. There are rooms full of cameras set-up and photographs littered everywhere (including the very first room you wake up in).
  • Super-Persistent Predator: The Old Man chases the Player Character all over the setting, even materializing out of the walls.
