Midnight Maid Night is a 2022 short third-person horror game created by Zed_Technician.

Ruth and Naomi are The Midnight Maids, a small local cleaning service.

After their 2 o'clock appointment abruptly cancels on them, they suddenly find themselves short of funds.

To make up the difference, they accept a side job moving items out of a client's newly purchased mansion.

However, the job proves to be more difficult than expected when the estate's unresolved history begins to resurface.

The game is available for free on itch.io.

The game contains examples of:

  • Bad Boss: Jeremiah saw his servants as nothing but tools who have to follow his orders and kills them over the slightest mistakes. Joseph tells the maids stories about his father burning his cooks alive in the oven, sending his butler Cornelius into an ice storm without any protective clothing to get a newspaper, murdering Agatha when Joseph fell in love with her, the list goes on.
  • Benevolent Boss: Joseph was kind to the help and has nothing but nice words for them. His father... not so much.
  • Big Bad: Jeremiah Vermander is the main threat of the game and the one responsible for all bad things that have happened in the mansion. He's also the only one who intentionally seeks to harm the maids, while Cornelius and Agatha are only threats by coincidence.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: Much like the previous games, the female protagonists are big voluptuous women with large boobs.
  • Blind Mistake: Cornelius' poor eyesight causes him to attack the maids on sight. Thankfully, he realizes his mistake when he's up close and his attacks only cost you some time instead of your life.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: In the Golden Ending, Joseph proclaims his refusal to accept his father's abuse anymore. It also turns out that Agatha had been hoping he would do this, believing that giving him the silent treatment would cause him to realize this.
  • Dead All Along: Joseph is revealed to be a restless spirit like the rest of the house's inhabitants in the Golden Ending.
  • Don't Look At Me: In order to ward off Agatha when she appears, all you have to do is simply stare at her until she runs away.
  • Dragged Off to Hell: This is Jeremiah's final fate in the Golden Ending.
  • Heroic Build: Joseph Vermander is a good man, especially by his family's standards, and is particularly barrel chested.
  • Interspecies Romance: Joseph, a human, and Agatha, a humanoid fox, fell in love with each other. Tragically, Jeremiah killed Agatha when he found out. The two end up Together in Death in the Golden Ending.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Subverted. Spending too long in the courtyard when Cornelius is about has him attack the duo when he mistakenly assumes one of them is Jeremiah, but he realizes his mistake and no harm comes to the maids other than lost time.
  • Multiarmed Multitasking: Ruth is a cockroach with four arms. This comes in handy as she can hold four boxes at once.
  • Nightmare Face: The ghosts haunting the estate are rather unpleasant-looking, but Agatha takes the cake. With her beady white eyes and snaggletoothed mouth full of pointy teeth.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Joseph often pops out from nowhere to provide some advice, only to disappear when the characters turn away.
  • Timed Mission: The maids have to completely clear out the house by morning to get paid.
  • The Cameo: It's implied that the previous appointment that canceled on the maids is the playable characters from a previous game. The diner owner always claimed she preferred to clean the place herself, and the person who hired the maids has their request overridden when their partner finds out and insists on doing the job themself.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: When Ruth and Naomi learn that Joseph Vermander was a ghost the entire time, they think of it as nothing new.
  • Viler New Villain: Jeremiah, one of the most depraved Zed_Technician character yet... The Bit More Know Zero, Man from the Window, Beware the Shadowcatcher, and Vermander Curse threats were Ambiguously Evil/Blue-and-Orange; and Shadowcatcher and even J.P., another evil Vermander, could be redeemed. Meanwhile, Jeremiah is a petty Abusive Parent and Serial Killer and Sociopath; and his Golden Ending fate is the most-violent moment in any Zed game, as he's set On Fire before being Dragged Off to Hell.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Despite his father's treatment of him and his friends, and even while trying to redeem the Vermander name, Joseph could never get away from his desire for his father's affection until the Golden Ending.
