Mega Mash is a game developed by Nitrome that combines several different types of games together, with the story being that a cartridge has messed up, and you have to guide the characters out of this trouble.

This Video Game contains examples of:

  • Adventurer Outfit: Blast-Man Joe's outfit is a Indiana Jones-esque brown shirt and hat.
  • Blatant Item Placement: Why are there one-dollar bills floating in the air?
  • Breaking Out: The Smash game has you control a paddle to break blocks with a ball.
  • Cartoon Bomb: Your weapon in the Blast-Man Joe section.
  • Demolitions Expert: The titular character in Blast-Man Joe, as seen by his liberal use of bombs.
  • Excuse Plot: A cartridge has messed up, and you have to guide the characters out of this trouble.
  • Falling Blocks: Tetriminos, of course, that feature in Nitrometris.
  • Gameplay Roulette: You could be playing a Super Mario Bros.-esque platformer one minute and a space shooter the next.
  • Goomba Stomp: You kill enemies this way in the platformer sections.
  • Hair-Raising Hare: Fluffykins, the Villain Protagonist of Carrot Story, is a rather cute-looking bunny who is also an aspiring tyrant.
  • Hearts Are Health: Regardless of who you're playing as, your health is represented by cartoon hearts.
  • Lethal Lava Land: Levels 2 to 5 contain several dangerous lava traps.
  • Mercy Invincibility: If you get hit, you're invincible for a while.
  • Ninja: One of the characters you play as is this, starring in the rather self-explanatory Ninja.
  • Percussive Maintenance: The opening scene has you punch the cartridge to get it to work.
  • Perpetual Frowner: The blocks in Balloon.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Your character in Carrot Story and Balloon, as well as the blocks in Nitrometris and Carrot Story.
  • Spikes of Doom: Seen in the Balloon sections, which is a bit of a problem when you're a balloon...
  • Stock Animal Diet: Your character in Carrot Story is a rabbit, and you pick up carrots to increase your score.
  • Throw Down the Bomblet: You use bombs in Blast-Man Joe.
  • Video-Game Lives: You get one life only. Thankfully, death only means having to restart the level.
  • Villain Protagonist: While most of the other playable characters are genuinely heroic, Fluffykins is in it to take over the Land of Carrots and rule it with an iron fist.
  • Wall Jump: Possible in Ninja, considering that you're a ninja. All other protagonists are incapable of such a feat.
