Machina of the Planet Tree -Unity Unions- is a Unity game developed by Denneko Yuugi in 2020 and localized to English by Sekai Project in the same year. It's a Spin-Off of Machina of the Planet Tree -Planet Ruler- and takes place in the same universe, but the gameplay is completely different, being a third-person shooter with action RPG elements rather than a turn-based RPG.

Corona Megistos is a jewelmancer who struggles to learn her family's minion synthesis magic, which is a problem when she's faced with a powerful Eldritch Abomination, Nova, which can control an army of monsters. Fortunately, Corona finally succeeds in minion synthesis with the help of the Machina, Arcturus Noah, allowing her to fight back against Nova's horde of monsters and clones.

This game provides examples of:

  • Adorable Abomination: Nova and its smaller clones look like chibi-proportioned demons with no faces or arms. The clones' only attack is a rather unthreatening-looking hop. Despite that, they are still negative ether lifeforms born from the hatred of King Megistos's victims.
  • Big Bad: Nova is a corrupted ether being who has the ability to control monsters and has wiped out a kingdom in the past with these powers. Once Nova is unsealed, Corona has to defeat it before it can destroy her village and the rest of human civilization.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Unlike Cram, who starts as an accomplished student and is already contracted to a Machina, Corona starts as a seemingly Inept Mage and has to find her Machina partner after overcoming a few missions by herself. While Cram is a snarky rough-around-the-edges type of protagonist who sometimes bickers with his partner, Corona is an unambiguous Nice Girl who is polite and patient with her partner, even when he accidentally insults her.
  • Flunky Boss: Every boss is accompanied by several minor minions. Both the first and second fight with Nova will have it summon massive hordes of monsters, with the second fight summoning mostly the bosses of past missions.
  • Golem: Corona gains the ability to consume magic gems to synthesize minions that appear to be made of stone and jewels. By default, she can only have 20 minions on the field, but some equipment can raise that cap.
  • I Cannot Self-Terminate: Nova is unable to control itself and uses the Boundary to tell Corona to Mercy Kill it.
  • Inept Mage: Subverted. Corona starts out frustrated with her inability to use minion synthesis magic. This turns out to be due to a limiter her mother placed on her power. Without it, she's actually good at synthesis due to her years to studying magic theory.
  • Limit Break: Every Amulet comes with a powerful Over-Art, which requires Corona to increase her EP gauge as she fights before she can use it.
  • Mechanical Abomination: In the final story mission, Nova transforms into a huge Machina-like being.
  • Numerical Hard: All enemies have their own growth rate based on their levels, and harder difficulties will increase the levels of the enemies of a stage. On the hardest difficulty, the final missions have level 99 enemies.
  • Older Than They Look: Arcturus looks like a child, but is actually an ancient machine like the other Machina.
  • Power Limiter: The reason Corona cannot create minions at first is because her mother placed a seal on her magic, out of fear that her magic power would cause her to gaze too deeply into the Boundary and go insane. Arcturus removes this seal so that Corona can use her full power against Nova.
  • Sequel Hook: Nova states that Corona's mother, Aurelia, is still alive. However, Arcturus and Dalpa fear that she may have lost her sanity due to being connected to the Boundary for too long, but there's no confirmation. Despite the horrifying implications, Corona wants to journey to find her mother, though she wants to learn swordplay before doing so.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: Subverted. Corona is descended from King Megistos, who performed deadly experiments on his own people, resulting in Nova destroying the kingdom. Nova later returns to threaten the rest of the world, including Corona's village, though its rage is indiscriminate this time. When it meets Corona, it acknowledges that she and her mother are good people and asks her to put it out of its misery, bearing no ill will against her.
  • Squishy Wizard: Subverted. Despite having no melee attacks, Corona can use wands that specialize in wide, close-range damage. She can also upgrade her HP to increase her survivability against enemies. In the ending, she considers training in swordplay before setting off on a journey to find her mother.
  • Tragic Monster: Nova was created from the hatred of King Megistos's victims, but regrets that it killed people other than the king, its only intended target. Sadly, it cannot control itself and must be put down.
