Fairy Bloom is a doujin Beat 'em Up game developed for Windows PC by Edelweiss, one of the first games released by the circle, and the first in the Fairy Bloom series.

In Fairy Bloom you play as a flower fairy who must protect a blossoming flower from monsters that wish to do harm to the precious plant. Don't be deceived by the fairy's cute looks, she kicks far more ass than you think. Armed with a blade in hand, she will punch, kick, slice and dice anything trying to prevent this flower from blooming. The game was released on December 26th, 2005 as a retail game, but later the game became freeware and it can be downloaded here for v3.02 or here for v3.03.

The game was later followed up by a Stylish Action sequel with Fairy Bloom Freesia released in August 15, 2011 during Comiket 80, and was later localized by Nyu Media in 2012 through Steam and DESURA.

A remake of the original Fairy Bloom, entitled Fairy Bloom Ultra Encore, sold only in Japanese markets as "花咲か妖精 Ultra Encore", has being developed with the Unreal Engine 4. A demo of the remake was released during the 86th Summer Comiket and its trailer can be found here. The game was available from Playism's site through a "pay what you want" model at a minimum of $0.99 with the game's source code going for $9.99; as of May 2021, the game is no longer available since the closure of the site's site, and instead has been moved to booth.pm.

These games features examples of:

  • After-Combat Recovery: In Ultra Encore, after every day of battle, the plant gets healed about 25 Hit Points.
  • Angst Nuke: The power for a Smart Bomb-type Limit Break fills up when the plant takes damage or just by waiting. In the original game, it's measured by "怒" which is usually translated as "Anger" in meter and in Ultra Encore it's called a "Rage Bomb" and marked by an emoticon at the bottom that gets redder and sad/mad-der, turning fiery when full / ready to activate. As said on the help screen:
If the flower gets, you can unleash your fury and mop up your foes! The fairy is a vicious being, however, and will accumulate rage even if left alone.
  • Combos: You can make combos by hitting enemies with other enemies who fly as a result of your kicks.
  • Blob Monster: The formless monsters fought in v3.02 and below.
  • Endless Game: It's literally called Endless Mode. The setup is that you have a full-grown plant, and you're fighting off monsters that drop in and come from the sides, for as long as possible.
  • Evil Doppelgänger: You fight evil versions of yourself in v3.03 of the original Fairy Bloom.
  • Excuse Plot: You're protecting a plant from attackers, while it's growing, during the day.
  • In-Universe Game Clock: Both the original and the remake have a day-night cycle.
  • Hit Points: The English translation of Ultra Encore calls the 100 hit points of the plant in the center of the screen, "Lives", judging from the end-of-level summaries.
  • Life Meter: The plant's health is depicted in a bar on the bottom that decreases from right to left in the original and from both sides at once in Ultra Encore.
  • Little Miss Badass: The protagonist fairies of each game look like young girls, and can fight off creatures trying to attack their plants.
  • Meta Power Up: It's the form of the Critical Status Buff that triggers at whatever values make the Life Meter turn red. It boosts the rate that the Angst Nuke "anger" meter fills per second, to be 8 times the regular.
  • One-Hit Kill: The jumping kick and the standing knife slash take out monsters in one hit.
  • Palette Swap: Fairy Bloom Ultra Encore has an aphid that's purple-pink where the regular ones are dark orange, appear on the fourth day at least.
  • Pointy Ears: The protagonist fairies have pointy ears, presumably due to being non-human.
  • Sprite/Polygon Mix: The Fairy Bloom used hand-drawn sprites yet the game was rendered in 3D. The remake continues to the original's mix of 2D sprites and 3D scenery.
  • Video Game Remake: Fairy Bloom Ultra Encore is one to the original 2005 Fairy Bloom, with a complete visual overhaul while utilizing the Unreal Engine 4 and DirectX 11 capabilities.
  • Winged Humanoid: The fairy, who looks like a young girl, in the remake's promotional art, has yellow wings of some kind.
