Don't Look Back is a free web game, based on Monteverdi's opera L'Orfeo. (Not to be confused with the other free web game with the same name, which is based on the original Orpheus and Eurydice myth.)
The game's a text adventure minus the text, told entirely through audio narration and sound effects. Plus it was made by a bunch of teens in a two-week timeframe, as a co-project between London's Royal Opera House and the Roundhouse theatre. So...yeah.
Play it here (warning: very tempremental on any browser except Chrome.)
This game provides examples of:
- Amnesiac Hero: The player, to start with. Once you start getting your memory back, see Dead to Begin With.
- Dead to Begin With: It quickly becomes apparent that you're playing as Euridice, having somehow woken up in a forest following Orfeo's failed attempt to rescue you from the underworld.
- Orphean Rescue: Well, yeah. Except that it's been inverted.
