Your average everyday deer game.
DEEEER Simulator - Your Average Everyday Deer Game is an indie Open World Sandbox game developed by Gibier Games, published by Playism, and released on November 23, 2021 on Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.

The game is an open-world sandbox game where the player has got the option to be casual and enjoy a nice relaxing frolic with other characters around town, or go on a flat-out destruction rampage. If you choose the latter path, everyone and everything will be out against you to stop your quest to destroy the city—and learn of its dark secret...

DEEEER Simulator provides examples of:

  • Anti-Frustration Features:
    • While the game has a strategic component in the low health requiring skill and weapons to make progress in the game, there are a few points where the game has automatic checkpoints: the beginning of the future city map so you don't have to replay the stages to unlock it or run back to the portal, the beginning of the Future Self fight, and the beginning of the fight's third and final phase.
    • The boss fights in the game can be quite difficult, so they will be made easier after multiple failures by giving the Deer more health and, in the case of one fight, skipping it ahead to prevent replaying of earlier phases.
    • The arcade machines allow you to set the number of cop spawns per Deersaster level, allowing you to have fun with chaotic swarms, but also allowing you to effectively turn them off if you want to play without them coming in and potentially killing you.
  • Artistic License – Biology: You'd be surprised to find anything biologically correct about any of the animals featured in-game!
  • Bait-and-Switch: The game opens with a rather detailed character creator for its minimalist art style, featuring a model you can tweak with tons of sliders and options to match yourself. You can expect to spend a good amount of time making your character...only to have them killed in the opening cutscene and reincarnated as the Deer, the actual player character. You never get to play as the character you made, though it shows up again as the True Final Boss and a DLC character option that's rigged to the frame of the Deer.
  • Black Comedy: Killing a cow with the dragon flame turns it into a burger on a bun, and you get an achievement for doing this four times. In general, you can kill any living creature and then haul its corpse around as you go around the map.
  • Cymbal-Banging Monkey: The Big Time Monkey is one of these, being a giant secret boss revealed by disabling the hamster generators in the future city. His cymbals create very dangerous vertical shockwaves.
  • Eye Beams: Utilized by the Giant Koala, which can kill the Deer in an instant.
  • Flat World: A super-colossal Deer in the true ending finds themselves standing on a tiny, flat Earth. The flat Earth is also the true final boss' arena.
  • The Future: After defeating Doggo, you can activate a pair of switches at the pagoda to open a portal to the future. The police department is a cemetery after your fights against them, there are cybernetics, laser guns, jetpacks, and high-tech skyscrapers all around, the Giant Koala is now a hologram, and the police themselves are more bizarre and deadly. Defeating the police in the future leads to the Final Boss.
  • Long Neck: Weaponized by the Deer as one of its main abilities, stretching its neck to use its head as a makeshift Grappling-Hook Pistol.
  • Mind Screw: Nothing going on makes sense, and the nature of the deer reality as opposed to the real world is unclear.
  • More Dakka: Since there is no healing, most of the game will be survived by accumulating tons of guns and ammunition on the Deer's person to mow down opponents.
  • My Future Self and Me: The Deer's Future Self can be encountered after time traveling. They're the Final Boss.
  • Or Was It a Dream?: The true ending of the game first suggests that the events of the player's reincarnation were actually Adventures in Comaland, since the player wakes up in the hospital... but the nurse runs away and it turns out the protagonist's neck is now elongated and stretchy like the Deer's.
  • Surreal Humor: The game is comedic and deliberately makes itself feel like a fever dream with a mix of art styles, bizarre animals of different sizes, and cartoon physics and distorted bodies featuring in the game's imagery and mechanics.
  • True Final Boss: After the Final Boss in the ending where you choose to spare your Future Self, you end up as a gigantic deer fighting You, the human form of the Deer before their reincarnation, and taking the form of several different enemy types.
  • Video Game Cruelty Potential: You have the option to cause whatever open chaos or destruction you want, with the possibility of destroying the entire city.
  • Wide-Open Sandbox: The game has a plot sequence and endings, but the game's world is fully open to explore, with several minigames and opportunities to make a mess and have fun.
