CONV/RGENCE: A League of Legends Story is a 2D platformer developed by Double Stallion (creators of Speed Brawl and Big Action Mega Fight!) and published by Riot Forge, set in the world of League of Legends. It was released on May 23, 2023.

The game serves as an Origins Episode for Ekko, the "Boy Who Shattered Time". As Ekko, you traverse his home city of Zaun, using his natural agility to platform across a series of complex environments. You can also use his ability to rewind time to assist your navigation.

CONV/RGENCE: A League of Legends Story contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Advancing Boss of Doom: While in the Sumps, Ekko encounters The Wrath of Zaun himself, Warwick, who isn’t fond of Ekko being on his turf, so he chases him through the Sumps, with him being lucky enough to escape through a vent.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Camille is characterized as an unfeeling Well-Intentioned Extremist in her lore, capable of casually decapitating someone while enjoying a spot of tea. In Convergence, she's willing to kill Ekko for his interference in her investigation, but also serves as a Reasonable Authority Figure who forges an alliance with the Ekkos to get to the bottom of the Syntixi problem after they fight and talk things out. In the last part of the game, Camille is Ekko's greatest ally in stopping Future Ekko's plans to destroy the Hextech Vault and the Syntixi crystals with a bomb. She shows clear concern and compassion for Ekko and has a friendly rapport wiith Corin Reveck, hoping to see Corin back in Piltover one day with Orianna.
  • Alternate Self: Ekko meets a version of himself from the far future, one that's taller, deeper-voiced and complete with cybernetic implants.
  • Canon Discontinuity: As a result of Arcane being made into the main League of Legends canon, this game and its implication that it took place in a universe separate to Arcane's' effectively remove it from canon.
  • Clock Tower: The Poingdestre Clocktower serves as The Very Definitely Final Dungeon of the game.
  • Control Freak: Ever since he invented his Zero Drive, Ekko has become obsessed with making everything as perfect as he can, down to the last second. This drives away people, including his parents, who note that he's too busy trying to do what he thinks is for the best that he doesn't take their interests into account when they prepare to leave Zaun for good.
  • The Dreaded: Warwick, the Wrath of Zaun, is a local boogeyman in Zaunite folklore that parents whisper about to their children to keep them from staying out too late. Ekko admits that he thought Warwick was a fairy tale until they meet face-to-face, and Future Ekko tells Ekko to run like hell if he wants to have a chance of surviving.
  • Locomotive Level: The Chaincrawler is the Poingdestre's underground train that runs through Zaun and Piltover, allowing them to smuggle goods like the Syntixi undetected.
  • Mad Bomber: As per her main game incarnation, Jinx is a Trigger-Happy lunatic who loves blowing things to smithereens with Pow-Pow. She's augmented her rockets and Chompers with Syntixi for even more mayhem this time around.
  • Mythology Gag: During The Stinger as Future Ekko is locked out of time, he peers into a few alternate settings from the LoL universe. Including the Star Guardians, PROJECT and even Arcane.
  • Origins Episode: The game's synopsis states that this Ekko is younger than the one of modern Runeterra.
  • Parents as People: Inna and Wyeth, Ekko's parents, clearly love him and want the best for him. However, his constant nightly excursions and absences from home strain their relationship with him. After he developed his Zero Drive, they notice that their son has become a Control Freak trying to decide what's best for them, as shown when he repeatedly rewinds time to try to convince them to not leave Zaun. He spends so little time with his family nowadays that he's completely unaware of Inna's lung blight condition or his past arguments with them, preventing him from reconciliating with them.
  • Percussive Maintenance: A letter found in the Chaincrawler titled "A Technical Manual" has its troubleshooting steps boiled down to "SMACK THE ENGINE."
  • Redemption Equals Death: Future Ekko ultimately sacrifices himself to destroy his Syntixi bomb before it can devastate Zaun and Piltover.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Red, Ekko's Implied Love Interest, does little more but date an asshole in the Inx and be a Damsel in Distress for Ekko to save in a chapter.
  • Shadow Archetype: Ekko's future self acts as this to Ekko, embodying the dark path Ekko was at risk of going down after he invented the Zero Drive, believing that only he has all the answers to such an extent that he sees nothing wrong with sacrificing civilians in the present in order to avert a future tragedy because he doesn't think any alternative exists beyond what he thought up.
  • Sinister Silhouettes: In the trailer Jinx is only shown in silhouette. As Ekko was once friends with her, it emphasizes the disconnect he has with her current persona.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Future Ekko seeks to prevent a Civil War between Piltover and Zaun by destroying the Hextech Vault with a Syntixi crystal bomb to rid both sides of their most dangerous weapons. The problem is that the resulting explosion will likely lead to untold casualties. When Future Ekko brushes off the potential civilian toll as a necessary sacrifice, Ekko immediately turns on him.
