Cassette 50 is, as the title suggests, a cassette that was released by Cascade Games, Ltd. in 1983 on numerous computer systems such as the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 that featured 50 BASIC-written games on it. A number of the featured games were clones of popular arcade games, such as Pac-Man and Space Invaders, and differed depending on the platform.

Cassette 50 contains examples of:

  • Endless Game: Cars and Racetrack have no endings; the "goal" is essentially to steer within the boundaries of the track as long as possible without crashing into the sides.
  • Flip-Screen Scrolling: In Cars, the screen switches to a different part of the road when the player reaches the bottom.
  • Market-Based Title: Cassette 50 was called Galaxy 50 - 50 Excitantes Juegos (which translates to Galaxy 50 - 50 Exciting Games in English) when it got released in Spain by Gamesoft.
  • Take That, Player!: If the player hits a flag in Ski Run, the game will display "HA HA YOU HIT A FLAG" in all caps.
  • Title by Number: The title comes from the 50 games that were included on the cassette.
  • Video Game Cruelty Potential: In Motorway, the player can run over people to earn points.
  • Written Sound Effect: In Tanks, the player's tank will turn into a flashing text box that says "BANG" in all caps at the area where an invisible mine was encountered.
