Body Count is an Interactive Fiction game created by Nell Bolton and currently playable on DashingDon.

You, the player character, take a break from your office job and try your stakes on a Love Island-esque reality TV show, in hopes of winning the million pound prize and/or finding love. The player soon realizes this isn't the vacation they've been hoping for.

Currently, this game is in development with three chapters and can be played here.

Spoilers for the ending of episode 2 and the entirety of episode 3 have been marked.

Body Count contains examples of:

  • Amateur Sleuth: Depending on the player’s decisions, Avery or Ellis might ask you to help uncover the murderer, despite their lack of experience in that field. If the player character doesn’t fall for Avery’s farce; Avery, Atticus, or Ellis may ask them to play detective.
  • Anyone Can Die: According to the Word of God, character deaths are determined in an election on her patreon. Fans vote to save their favorite character. The character with the least amount of votes dies.
  • Cell Phones Are Useless: The cast was asked to forgo communications with the outside world once they agreed to participate in this show. As of episode three, the producers are also unable to contact the mainland for reasons outside their control.
  • Closed Circle: As of episode three, no one is allowed to leave the island.
  • Coming and Going: The player character has the opportunity to sleep with Syd or Griffin on the first night and around the same time of this encounter Ellis dies.
  • Confession Cam: The player character reveals their intentions and feelings about their castmates through this.
  • Dialogue Tree: The player is given an arrangement of dialogue to choose from, which will determine their character’s stats.
  • Everyone Is Bi: The player can pursue any character regardless of your character’s set gender.
  • Everyone Is a Suspect: If the player decides to sleuth with Atticus or Avery or accept Ellis' plea to find their killer, they ask them who they are most suspicious of. Everyone is an option and no one has an alibi.
  • Ghostly Goals: If the player character decides against helping Avery sniff out the murderer or making Atticus their Watson, Ellis’s ghost will personally ask them to find their killer.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: Player can pick the name of the player character.
  • Reality Tv Show Mansion: Despite the player character's expectations of the set to look like a villa, it is shot at a modern mansion.
  • Relationship Values: The player’s choices and the characters they flirt with influence how much a character likes them, both platonically and romantically.
  • The Show Must Go On: Despite Ellis dying a few hours prior, the producers force the player character on another date with their cast members.
  • Story Branching
    • The character that walks you to the confession taping, the character that soothes you at the end of episode three is dependent on which characters like you.
      • You can sleep with Sydney and Griffin on the first night but that’s dependent on if you coupled up with them and whether you’re drunk or not.
      • You can decide whether or not to be blissfully unaware of the murder. You can also choose to help find the killer and who and if they partner up with someone is dependent on their choices.
  • Ten Little Murder Victims: One thing’s for certain, Ellis’ killer is on set.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Ellis, poor thing, never made it to episode three.
