Arzea is a Metroidvania made in Adobe Flash by Arkeus released in 2012. You play as a wizard who initially doesn't have many spells at his disposal, but you can use them once you find them to combat enemies. Other upgrades to things like life and jump height can be found as well, which will all help him go back home.

This game provides examples of:

  • Absurdly High Level Cap: The most difficult achievement earned for reaching level 45, which should be enough to beat the game. Higher levels let you destroy normally invincible enemies. As of 2021, the highest level on Kongregate for this game is 666.
  • Achievement System: There are 21 achievements to earn, for reaching a certain level, finding things, and more.
  • Battle Theme Music: Run into a boss room and the game's music changes into a more frantic theme.
  • Blob Monster: The first enemy encountered, which serves as a typical weak creature.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: You face the evil wizard who is responsible for this early on, but the game's far from over, you're only getting the turquoise key after this fight.
  • Double Jump: Finding the double jump orb lets you do this function. The second jump can be done any time in the air.
  • Fireballs: The first spell you get lets you shoot fireballs. You can charge it to shoot three at once.
  • Flunky Boss: The boss arena tends to have additional enemies, the evil wizard having additional enemies appears during the fight.
  • Heart Container: Each heart orb increases your maximum health by one heart.
  • Level-Map Display: A full-screen display of explored areas. This map is reset if the game is reloaded.
  • No-Sell: The circular enemies who first appear in the southwest areas are immune to damage from spells that don't correspond to their color (for example, blue ones can only be hurt with the Douse spell).
  • Respawning Enemies: Enemies re-appear offscreen.
  • Ring Menu: Pressing shift brings up a menu of spells which is ring-shaped.
  • Save Point: Each save crystal reached recovers your health and saves the game in that location, also fullfilling the role of a checkpoint.
  • Sound of No Damage: A metallic ping, first heard when hitting the cubes going back and forth.
  • Turns Red: The enemy wizard's hat changes color, and also speeds up.
  • Trapped in Another World: The 3 young wizard was pulled from his home, into what feels like a dying world.
