We all love the many classic Disney songs and orchestrations, but without these people, those songs may have never been made! So here's a pantheon of notable Disney musicians.

Names boldened are Disney Legends who received the award while still alive; names boldened and italicized are Disney Legends who received the award posthumously.

  • Brad Paisley: Country music legend who has contributed a good number of original songs to the Cars franchise from Pixar.
  • Buddy Baker: Scored various Disney films and attractions.




  • Fall Out Boy: Sang for the Big Hero 6 soundtrack.
  • Frank Churchill: Composed the score and songs for films like Three Little Pigs, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Bambi.

  • George Bruns: A music director for several Disney Animated Classics.


  • Idina Menzel: Sings Elsa's songs in the Frozen franchise in addition to voicing her.
  • Igor Stravinsky: The only composer of a Fantasia number to be alive for the film, he was a consultant on the animation adaptation of his "Rite Of Spring" piece, but events beyond Walt's control left both men unimpressed with how the number turned out, and almost convinced Stravinsky to sue Disney. Another one of his works, "The Firebird Suite", was used as the classic Grand Finale number for the sequel, Fantasia 2000.
  • Irving Berlin: The composer wrote a song for So Dear To My Heart.
  • Irwin Kostal: Broadway composer who worked on Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Petes Dragon 1977, and Mickey's Christmas Carol along with a rerecording of Fantasia, though that recording would be scrapped for the original when the film saw its 50th anniversary reissue and following Walt Disney Classics VHS release onwards.



  • Lana Del Rey: Sang for the Maleficent soundtrack.
  • Lea Salonga: Singing voice for a number of Disney heroines, particularly Jasmine, Esmeralda, and the eponymous Mulan.
  • Leigh Harline: Composed the scores and songs for films like The Old Mill, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Pinocchio.
  • Leopold Stokowski: The conductor for Walt Disney's Masterpiece Fantasia. He was also one of the major directors, and composed a full-orchestra version of Johan Sebastian Bach's classic Toccata and Fugue in D Minor to open the program. He also appears after the classic Sorcerer's Apprentice sequence, shaking hands with Mickey Mouse.
  • Lin-Manuel Miranda: One of the songwriters for Moana. He also plays the role of Jack the Lamplighter in Mary Poppins Returns.
  • Lucien Ades: His record company composed many read-along album books for Disney films.


  • Ned Washington: Wrote Baby Mine for Dumbo and When You Wish Upon A Star for Pinocchio.

  • Oliver Wallace: Music director on a multitude of Disney projects and cartoons.
  • Owl City: Sang for the Wreck-It Ralph soundtrack.

  • Paul Smith: Composer for many early Disney films.
  • Phil Collins: Composed and sang the eponymous character's songs in Tarzan as well as songs in Brother Bear.

  • Thomas Newman: Cousin of Randy Newman and the composer for Andrew Stanton's Pixar films.
  • Tim Rice: Associate of Andrew Lloyd Webber who finished up Howard Ashman's work on Aladdin with Alan Menken when Ashman died in pre-production and then became the lyricist for Elton John's songs in The Lion King.
  • Tony Jay: Sings Frollo's songs in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
