Troubled Production: The game's localization, which had omitted certain mini-games, sidequests, and hostess clubs despite some of these having appeared in earlier titles. Sega claimed that they were only given a short time to localize the game, and they either had to remove content or not release the game at all, and chose features that they felt people outside Japan had very little familiarity of and couldn't resonate with. Fans were certainly not pleased with the changes, but most of the features returned from Yakuza 4 onward.
What Could Have Been: There were talks in the early stages of the game's localization to feature an English dub once more, explained further in this podcast, which was also reported by various gaming news outlets. Due to the time and budget restraints given to Sega to localize the game, the idea was quickly axed.
