• Ascended Fanon: It's quite popular fanon that Sarah Kinney used her own DNA to complete Laura's genetic code, using the idea that her off-book project meant she couldn't access the Facility's normal resources. Hunt for Wolverine: Adamantium Agenda #4 confirms that at least the former was indeed the case: Laura is truly the genetic daughter of Sarah and Logan, not Logan's genetic clone.
• Creator Backlash: Craig Kyle is known for this with developments that run against what he claimed he intended for X-23. For example, in response to the Retcon mentioned under Ascended Fanon above, he Tweeted a splash page from a Dave Sim-penned issue of Spawn critical of how Marvel and DC handle characters in defiance of the creators' wishes.
• Creator Breakdown: Marjorie Liu admitted to going through a stretch of difficult personal issues during the latter parts of her X-23 ongoing (including while writing the "Misadventures in Babysitting" arc). As this included the dissolution of Laura's frielationship with Hellion it led to some questioning of whether this directly influenced the book itself.
• The Other Darrin: In X-Men: Evolution she was originally voiced by Andrea Libman, then by Brittney Irvin. In later adaptations she's voiced by Tara Strong. In other words, she's Pinkie Pie/Fluttershy, Lightning Dust, and Twilight Sparkle, respectively.
• Trolling Creator: How some viewed Craig Kyle's remarks that Laura's "true" orientation is gay and that it's a direction he would take her if he had control of her story, given that they very closely follow other remarks interpreted as critical of other developments in the character (see Creator Backlash above).
• What Could Have Been:
  • Marjorie Liu had plans to bring back Laura, Jubilee and Daken during her run on Astonishing X-Men, but the book was cancelled before this could come to fruition.
  • In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Craig Kyle mentions that they originally planned for Laura to remain a pre-teen because her healing factor was activated at such a young age. However by the time she was actually introduced in the comics she was made a teenager by Quesada in NYX.
  • At one point it was reported that Laura would be appearing in Christopher Yost's Amazing X-Men. Unfortunately for fans frustrated by her depiction in All-New X-Men and thrilled at the thought of seeing one of her creators write her again, it turned out this was reported in error and it was never planned for her to appear.
  • Craig Kyle has remarked that if he were still writing Laura's story, he would have her come out as gay. He would also retcon NYX out of her history altogether if he had the authority to do so.
• Word of God: Marjorie Liu's explanation for the ending of X-23 #19, in which Laura tells Julian that she doesn't feel anything for him is that Laura has essentially outgrown their relationship. Fans...tend not to agree. However it has less to do with the point of view of the author than it does with the execution of the scene — which was found to be rushed by many, to the point some people think that it was an editorial mandate — and that many find the characterization of both Laura and Julian to be unusually poor (especially the latter).
