Trivia / Wrestlicious

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Nikki The NY Knockout played both Toni The Top and Super Nova (under a mask).
  • All-Star Cast:
    • As far as women's wrestling goes. Daizee Haze, Mercedes Martinez, Rain, Madison Rayne, Serena Deeb, Lexie Fyfe, Jennifer Blake, Portia Perez, Nicole Matthews, Daffney Unger, Lacey and Josie.
    • Season 2 tapings also featured Brittney Savage, Santana Garrett and Ivelisse Vélez.
  • Awesome, Dear Boy: Rain came out of retirement to portray the Felony character.
  • Dear Negative Reader: Christie Ricci, who played Glory, tried to insist that Wrestlicious "wasn't trying to be SHIMMER" when fans complained about the goofy trailer.
  • Development Hell: The second season, which had tapings done in 2013 but ultimately never surfaced.
  • Fake Nationality: Canadians Jennifer Blake (Autumn Frost), Portia Perez (Faith) and Nicole Matthews (Hope) are billed from Anchorage, Alaska and Boston, Massachusetts respectively. Draculetta is naturally billed from Transylvania. Coco Montegro is billed from Jamaica but portrayed by American Josette Bynum.
  • Missing Trailer Scene: Several matches can be seen in the opening that never made it to the air.
  • Money, Dear Boy: A lot of the wrestlers did the show because the pay was very good.
  • Non-Singing Voice: Lizzy Valentine confirmed that the person singing Kandi Kisses's song "Powerbomb" is not her.
  • Old Shame:
    • Portia Perez views the series as an embarrassment.
    • Lana Kinnear, who played Malibu McKenzie was disappointed that she only appeared in one backstage segment and didn't get much airtime.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • The girl who appears as Draculetta in the opening rap is not the one who plays the character on TV. That is actually TNA's Daffney.
    • Several of the characters appeared in the Spiritual Predecessor CRUSH, but were not played by the same women. Cheerleader Melissa was Felony then but not involved in Wrestlicious at all, for example.
  • Playing Against Type: Christie Ricci (Glory) is not normally an All-American Face, Amber O'Neal (Charlotte) is typically a bitchy heel, Jennifer Blake (Autumn Frost) is normally a Genki Girl. At the time Amber Lively was within type for Ashley Lane, but before the show aired, she joined TNA and became known for being a Screaming Woman Alpha Bitch - making this a retroactive example for her. Serena Deeb was known for being a Plucky Girl fiery babyface - making the nerd Paige Webb a little bit different for her. Ann Brookstone (Super Nova) was known for being brute with unhygienic habits rather than a superhero.
  • Troubled Production: Considering the show was funded by someone who won the lottery, you'd expect a few kinks. There were three initial tapings for matches and they had to have more two years later for unknown reasons - also featuring some new characters because some of the previous women had signed to major companies or just weren't available. Several characters such as Malibu McKenzie, Super Nova, Jimmy's Angels and Maui barely appeared on the show. A few taped matches that never made it to air. The matches themselves also happened normally without rhyme or reason and many skits were repeated. Consider that the show was taped in 2008 and didn't air until 2010. Though most of the women have stated that they had a lot of fun working on the show so the actual wrestling was the only thing that wasn't troubled.
  • Typecasting: Daizee Haze as a Granola Girl, Lorelei Lee as a cowgirl, Becky Bayless as a Boisterous Bruiser. As mentioned above, this was in type for Ashley Lane at the time of taping.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Lizzy Valentine was originally going to play Shauna-Na but they had no other heels to play Kandi Kisses.
    • Jimmy's Angels, Malibu McKenzie, Super Nova and many others taped matches that could clearly be seen in the opening sequence but never aired for some reason.
    • Mia Yim wrestled several Wrestlicious house shows but never appeared as a character on TV.
    • Matches were taped for a second season featuring Ivelisse Vélez, Santana Garrett and Brittney Savage but the show was not picked up again.
