- Mid-Development Genre Shift: According to Jon Pertwee's memoirs, the idea for the series started life as a proposed film "about the scarecrow equivalent" of the Peasants' Revolt, with the scarecrows rising up against farmers who were going to burn them when the farming season had finished.

- Referenced by...: Caddicarus mentions the episode "The Return of Dafthead'' in his "Top-10 Traumatic TV Moments," and Dafthead decapitating Worzel was especially frightening to him, since it was the episode he started on and he didn't know Worzel could just put his head back on. Dafthead screeching "Old Mc Donald is a farm! Go to th' garden RAAAAUUUGH!" gets a screenshake of scariness too.
