• Saved from Development Hell: Woody Allen wrote the screenplay of the film in the 1970s, with Zero Mostel in mind for the main role. After Mostel died in 1977, Allen shelved the project for more than thirty years before eventually making it starring Larry David.

• A Screen-to-Stage Adaptation was created in France in 2012 by Daniel Benoin, starring Michel Boujenah and Nora Arnezeder most notably.
