  • Creator Backlash: John Gossard wasn't terribly fond of his vocals and would not perform them in future bands (until Dispirit). Many listeners don't agree with him, however, as they are among the most tortured black metal vocals on record (next to Silencer and Burzum).
  • Follow the Leader: They're easily one of the most influential American black metal bands of all time, having arguably invented the entire genre of post-black metal.
  • Short-Lived, Big Impact: One album by them and they basically are the reason bands such as Deafheaven or Panopticon exist.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: As mentioned on the main page, Dead as Dreams was recorded in 1998 but not released until 2000, after the band had broken up. This seems to be a common trend with Gossard's bands, as The Gault's sole album lists a copyright date of 1999, but the album wasn't released until 2005.
