Trivia / Village of the Giants

Go To

  • Dawson Casting: As per usual for a film of this era, most of the teenagers are played by actors in their 20s. The most blatant instance is Gail Gilmore, who was 28 years old during filming, with Joy Harmon being 25, and Tommy Kirk and Beau Bridges both being 24.
  • He Also Did: Jack Nitzsche, who scored this movie, would later score a much, MUCH better science fiction movie starring one of Lloyd Bridges' sons.
  • Shrug of God: As noted on the main page, the fate of the giant cat is unknown in contrast to the other giant creatures, either killed (the spider, the ducks) or shrunk back to normal (the teens). Bert I. Gordon officially stated even he didn't know what became of the cat.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The original script had one of the giant teens crushing the sheriff's deputy to death by stepping on him. It is unknown whether or not this scene was even filmed.
    • Originally the giants were going to party all night after taking over, the Bad Vibrations they cause wreaking havoc all over town.
    • The giants were going to be shown taking down telephone lines and destroying roads to cut off communications to the outside. Mike was going to attempt to escape and get help, only to be stopped by one of the giants.
    • Originally, the script had a character named Carlson, who would have been Mike's uncle. He would have taken credit for the goo, and was originally the owner of the ducks Mike tests the goo on, after which Carlson would have fed it to his goldfish.
