Trivia / Twin Cobra

Go To

  • Channel Hop: Twin Cobra II was developed by Takumi rather than Toaplan, although some of Toaplan's former staff took up employment at Takumi.
  • Late Export for You: In July 2023, M2 and Limited Run Games announced that they will finally bring the Kyukyoku Tiger-Heli Compilation Rerelease to the West, after having been released only in Japan in October 2021.
  • No Export for You: The PC Engine, X68k, FM Towns, and PS1 versions are Japan-only. In the case of the X68k and FM Towns versions, this is due to those platforms being Japan-only in the first place.
  • Port Overdosed: The first game has been ported to 12 different platforms.
  • Recursive Import: Kyūkyoku Tiger was released as Twin Cobra in the West with some gameplay changes, such as removing checkpoints in favor of a more modern "respawn in place" mechanic, giving the player fewer simultaneous on-screen shots, and introducing Co-Op Multiplayer instead of taking-turns multiplayer. This version was released in Japan as part of the Kyūkyoku Tiger Compilation Rerelease in October 2021, 34 years later. Perhaps to be more familiar to Japanese players, a ROM Hack of this build that replaces the title screen with Kyukyoku Tiger's was included as well.
  • Similarly Named Works: "Tsugaru", the theme for stages 4 and 9, is not to be confused with the DanceDanceRevolution track.
  • Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: In an interview with SweepRecord, Masahiro Yuge explained that the item movement pattern was inspired by a pattern in his donburi during a lunch break, and after noticing and being inspired by it, he rushed back to the office to code the pattern in.
