- Acclaimed Flop: Talk, Can't Look Away...Rabin was involved in a lot of these. His solo career as a whole falls into this, really; attracting little attention but significant praise.
- Apartheid: "Sorrow (Your Heart)" and (depending on interpretation) "I Can't Look Away" are about this. In real life, Rabin was a vocal critic of apartheid, and left South Africa for the UK partially because of it. He later performed at a 1997 concert for Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg and regards meeting with Mandela and his family as one of the proudest moments of his life.
- Production Posse: He is part of producer Jerry Bruckheimer's, having scored thirteen of Bruckheimer's films starting with Con Air, which he co-scored with Mark Mancina.
- What Could Have Been: Rabin originally wrote "Love Will Find a Way" for Stevie Nicks, but Atco Records intervened. The song was a hit for Yes.
