  • Bad Export for You: The Steam release was heavily criticized for how sloppy the attempts to localize the game was.
    • The added English translation is extremely poor. With broken English, grammatical errors, and even typos. Said translation is also simply printed on the bottom of the screen akin to subtitles, which is extremely unprofessional-lookingnote . On top of this, only the dialogue and some of the menus are translated. Spell cards, song titles, and the like are untouched. It's for this reason that many opted to using the Fan Translation patch instead.
    • The biggest complaint pertains to the game's online. Despite the developers clearly anticipating there to be players outside of Japan, the game's already problematic netcode was not addressed. It still requires players to port forward their routers to even get it to work, and the game will softlock if the ping is too high. And because most of the playerbase is in Japan, matchmaking is nearly impossible in other countries unless players connect directly to each other's IP addresses, and hope the connection is at least decent. Thankfully, this issue was resolved in the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 ports. Not only did the consoles' respective online services mean no more port forwarding, but the game could finally handle high pings. The only problem was that, at launch, high pings caused the game to lag. But even then, that issue was later patched out, and now the online play is more than serviceable.
  • What Could Have Been: An interview in Strange Creators of Other World revealed that Shion was not actually part of the game's scenario originally, with Jo'on as a standalone villain. The character was only created after the Perfect Possession plot point was decided on, thus necessitating that Jo'on would have her own tag-partner in battle.
