  • Gay Panic: The 49ers was published as a complete graphic novel despite very obvious cliffhanger endings for serial publication, and it's widely alleged that it was because DC was afraid that the direct market serial audience would react badly to the prominence of a gay male romance plotline, especially one with some Lover and Beloved intergenerational elements.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Season 2 has yet to receive a collected edition, and with Wildstorm and ABC Comics having shut down, probably never will. In addition, the TPB's for The Forty-Niners, Smax, and Beyond the Farthest Precinct are long out of print.
  • Writer on Board: In Season 2, King Peacock and Wolfspider are sidelined, and Irma Geddon loses her license to wear her weapon suit. Not coincidentally, Season 2 was written and drawn entirely by Gene Ha and Zander Cannon, who had grown to hate those three characters after having to draw them (and their overly-detailed costumes) so often in the previous series.
