- Completely Different Title:
- China: "Gordon Suffers a Setback".
- Denmark: "The Superior Engine".
- Hungary: "Gordon Holds His Nose Up".
- Korea: "Gordon's Face".
- Poland: "Gordon Learns a Lesson".
- Russia: "A Lesson for Gordon".
- Deleted Scene: Gordon wanting to leave the Docks as soon as possible at the start of the episode. This was retained in the book adaptation.
- Early Draft Tie-In: The 2006 book adaptation of the episode mentions that while delivering passengers to Brendam Docks, Gordon wanted to leave as soon as possible, and has a different joke at the end of the story. These both came from the episode's original script but were left on the cutting room floor.
- The Merch: In 2005, Take Along used the episode as the basis of one of their Deluxe Play Scenes. This included a shocked Gordon with a "GO SLOW" sign and a pair of barrels for him to crash through.
- Prop Recycling: The large-scale model used for one of Gordon's crew lying in the dirt after his accident was first used in "Buzz, Buzz" to represent one of James' crew cowering from the swarm of bees.
- What Could Have Been: The episode originally ended on a different gag:Thomas: Don't worry, Gordon. Everyone makes mistakes — even you!James: Salty was right though. Pride does come before a fall!Gordon: Yes. It comes before a fall down a hillside!
