- Completely Different Title:
- Hungary: "The Surprise".
- Japan: "Percy is Surprised".
- Korea: "Cheer Up, Percy"/"Percy is Bored!".
- Wales: "Surprise and Wonder for Percy".
- Deleted Role: Thomas was supposed to appear in the episode trying to cheer up Percy but was cut for time.
- Deleted Scene: A saddened Percy talking to Thomas at night at Brendam Docks.
- Prop Recycling:
- The Series 5 rushes reveal that Mavis' model was used to propel the trucks during some of the runaway sequence.
- The crate Cranky dropped on Percy in "Cranky Bugs" is visible when the trucks at the coal mine are singing.
- What Could Have Been: Concept Art for the runaway sequence has two major differences:
- The lead truck in Percy's train was supposed to reuse Scruffey's face. In the final episode, a standard truck face is used instead.
- Percy's trucks are also heavy-looking steel-bodied trucks. In the final episode, regular wooden trucks are used (presumably to save costs on new props).
- Write What You Know: This episode is based on a runaway that Series 5's railway consultant, David Maidment, witnessed during his time as station master of Aberdeeg, Wales.
