Trivia / 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

Go To

  • Acclaimed Flop: By Michael Bay standards at least. While it does have mixed reviews instead of mostly negative ones, it got a very positive audience reception on RT.
  • Creator Killer: 13 Hours was the first in a series of 2016 box office underperformers that ultimately put Paramount's parent Viacom's CEO Philippe Dauman on Sumner Redstone's very bad side, which prompted a shareholder revolt during the year's Summer Bomb Buster that crushed Dauman's Viacom career in acrimony.
  • Dyeing for Your Art: John Krasinski got in serious shape to play a former Navy SEAL.
  • Follow the Leader: This film followed up on the successes of Lone Survivor and American Sniper as a film showcasing modern warfare based upon recent events and adapted from memoirs. Though notably the director stated he was influenced by the even earlier movie Black Hawk Down which he himself had wanted to direct.
