Trivia / The X-Files S04 E07 "Musings of a Cigarette-Smoking Man"

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: William B. Davis initially didn't like this episode, as he felt that it undercut his conception of the Smoking Man's character and found the backstory given to him ridiculous. Davis admitted later that he initially missed that the episode wasn't meant to be literally true and found it more enjoyable viewed through that lens.
  • Executive Meddling: The Smoking Man was originally scripted to kill Frohike.
  • Written-In Absence: Mulder and Scully were hardly in this episode so David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson could shoot scenes for the live action game made at the same time.
  • You Look Familiar: Chris Owens, who plays young CSM, later returns as Agent Jeffrey Spender. Which becomes Identical Grandson, because CSM is Spender's father.
