- Channel Hop: The movie was originally set for theatrical release by Paramount. The COVID-19 Pandemic prevented this, and Amazon Studios purchased it for $200 million to stream on Prime Video instead.
- Creator's Oddball: Chris McKay is better known as a TV director, and one for animation at that, having directed, written, edited, and produced episodes of Moral Orel and Robot Chicken and directed The LEGO Batman Movie.
- Fake American: Like many of her roles, Australian actress Yvonne Strahovski plays an American character.
- Preview Piggybacking: A rare instance of this occurring for a streaming release; a first look at Cinderella was promoted heavily alongside Tomorrow War during the latter's first weeks of availability.
- Production Posse: Chris McKay and Chris Pratt had previously worked on The LEGO Movie, prior to the release of this film.
- Release Date Change: The film was initially scheduled for release on December 25, 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down theaters it was rescheduled to July 23, 2021, taking the release date of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, then later pulled from the schedule again. In April 2021, it was announced that Amazon had officially acquired the film, and it was eventually released on Prime Video on July 2, 2021.
