Trivia / The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show

Go To

  • Executive Meddling - When the show's sponsorship changed from Rexall to RCA Victor, the character played by actor Elliott Lewis was no longer referred to as "Remley", but as... well, "Elliott"note . Also, a different actor played Willy after the change in sponsorship.
    • Utterly averted with Phil Harris and Elliott Lewis. The writers on the show were overjoyed that neither of them kibitzed in the writing room and were content to read whatever scripts were written for them. Interestingly enough in Lewis' case as he was an accomplished radio writer who wrote for and produced Suspense, among other shows.
  • The Danza - In the 1953-1954 season, Frankie Remley became Elliott Lewis, which was the name of the actor who played Remley. Phil had left Jack Benny's show, and Remley was a real person in Benny's orchestra who had consented to loaning his name to Lewis' fictional persona, meaning that CBS and Benny's show had rights to the name, forcing the change.
