• Directed by Cast Member: Frank Bonner (Herb) directed several episodes of the series.
• The Other Darrin: Not that you'd really notice, considering the number of years between appearances, but Arthur Carlson, Jr. appears as a regular character here during the first season, nearly twelve years after his initial appearance on the original series, where he was played by Sparky Marcus. Here, he's played by Lightfield Lewis. This also creates a reverse Age Lift, as young Carlson on the classic series was described as being 11 years old in 1979, making his birth year 1968 (Sparky Marcus's actual birth year). This would make him 23 during The New WKRP in Cincinnati's first season, but his father says in the pilot that his son is 21 (which matches Lightfield Lewis's age).
• You Look Familiar:
  • Michael Des Barres (who plays DJ Jack Allen) originally played a punk band singer in the original series episode "Hoodlum Rock".
  • John Chappelle, who played Buddy Dornster, also played Rev. Drinkwater in the classic series episode "Preacher".
