Trivia / The Itchy & Scratchy Show

Go To

  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: Simpson Mania: The History of TV's First Family calls the show "a violent version of Tom and Jerry". While that's not necessarily a bad way to describe Itchy and Scratchy, it's more accurate to say that it's an imitation/parody of Herman and Katnip, which really was the true "violent version of Tom and Jerry". Word of God even confirms it was based on Herman and Katnip.

  • Cross-Dressing Voices: In-story, both Itchy and Scratchy are voiced by an actress, June Bellamy, voiced by Tress MacNeille. In real life, Dan Castellaneta voices Itchy and Harry Shearer voices Scratchy.
  • Misaimed Marketing: Poochie was designed to embody just about every trend in the 90s, regardless of whether or not they mesh together. Most notably, in his animated debut he wears a motorcycle jacket and carries a surfboard. His dialogue also amounts to little more than catchphrases you might expect to hear from rappers, surfers and punk rockers. The only consistent thing about Poochie's character was that he was never depicted as a jock or nerd.
  • Missing Episode: "Burning Down the Mouse", A Day in the Limelight episode where Scratchy kills Itchy for once.
Krusty: Wow! They'll never let us show that again, not in a million years!
    • Also, diePod Slaylist, which is from Season 20, but is not listed in the ultimate episode guide of the Simpsons Seasons 1-20.
