- Milestone Celebration: The ten year anniversary of Boys and Girls in America had them go on a series of concerts with their former keyboardist, Franz Nicolay, which culminated in Nicolay rejoining the band for new albums.

- Word of God: Some small details of the Myth Arc have been revealed in interviews or concert talk by Craig Finn. For instance, he once stated (in a Reddit AMA) that no, Sapphire and Holly are not the same person.
- Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: Finn has said that for Lifter Puller's Myth Arc, he wrote out the entire story in the band's early days for his own amusement and for consistency. He has said The Hold Steady's story has evolved more organically.
