Trivia / The Fantastic Four (1978)

• Exiled from Continuity: Herbie the Robot replaced the Human Torch because Universal had the rights to the Human Torch for another project ultimately was never made. It's not the case as rumored that worrying studio executives feared that children would attempt to light themselves on fire.
• Franchise Killer: The negative reception to this series led to the Fantastic Four being absent from Marvel’s cartoons for over a decade. It wouldn’t be until 1994 that the team made an appearance again.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: The series has yet to be released on DVD. A set was announced, but the company went bankrupt before it was released.
• Pop-Culture Urban Legends: It was rumored that the Human Torch's absence from the show was because network executives were worried that kids would light themselves on fire attempting to copy Johnny's powers. This was not the case however, as the rights for the Human Torch were wrapped up with Universal at the time and the show was not able to use him.
• Role Reprise: In the French dub, Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman and the Thing are voiced by Roger Carel, Catherine Lafond and Pierre Garin respectively, all three of them reprising their roles from the 1967 cartoon.
