Trivia / The Division Bell

Go To

  • Feelies:
    • An odd case in that the packaging is the feely; the initial CD run of the album by EMI featured the 1994 Pink Floyd logo, a stylized sound wave, and the words "THE DIVISION BELL" in braille on the disc tray's spine.
    • The limited edition CD release featured the jewel case inserted in a small metal sculpture of the heads on the album cover. The Columbia Records release of this edition also includes the embossed CD tray from the initial EMI run, which is absent on Columbia's standard edition.
    • The original 7-inch single of "High Hopes" came on clear vinyl and included a poster, while the 12-inch single of the song came on blue vinyl included a set of film cards, along with an etching on the B-side of the disc. Some vinyl copies of the album also come in translucent blue.
  • Limited Special Collector's Ultimate Edition: The album got the deluxe box set treatment in 2014, featuring the album as an unabridged double-LP (most original LP releases abridged some songs to fit a single disc) along with reproductions of the original singles and other goodies. The album also received a limited reissue on translucent blue vinyl in 2019 (The original single LP release was also offered in translucent blue, but the 2019 release is a darker shade).
  • Refitted for Sequel: Much of the next album, The Endless River, consisted of outtakes from The Division Bell.
  • What Could Have Been: The band originally planned to follow up The Division Bell with The Big Spliff, an ambient album composed entirely of instrumental outtakes from The Division Bell. However, these plans fell through for unknown reasons; some of the material intended for The Big Spliff would eventually surface on The Endless River in 2014, with the deluxe edition's bonus tracks being whole songs that were intended for that earlier album.
