- Sequel Gap: A large amount of time passes between each installment. The second film was released 14 years after the original, and the TV miniseries came about 9 years after that.
- Those Two Actors: Most of the principal actors have made at least one other film with one one of their castmates, but this film is the second of three turn-of-the-century/early 2000s romcoms that Sanaa Lathan and Taye Diggs appeared in together, the first being The Wood and the third being Brown Sugar.
- Throw It In!: Nia Long actually hit Taye Diggs in the "Jordan slaps Harper" scene. The take where Long actually struck Diggs was the one used. The slap was unscripted. Long improvised because she felt "something was missing." The "Whoo" reaction was real and Diggs was angry at Long for hitting him so hard (for a day). Once he saw it on screen, he liked the scene.
