- Banned in Indonesia: After loud protests by various right-wing organisations who accuse it of distorting history and glorifying communism, the government placed a ban on commercial screenings of the film. Various non-commercial screening sessions were likewise threatened and harassed by said organisations, which still enjoy high-level political backing and de facto legal immunity throughout the country.
- Throw It In!: An extremely dark example. The crew originally planned to shoot the movie as a straightforward documentary. It was the hitmen themselves who suggested staging reenactments of their crimes with all kinds of campy cinematic flourishes.
