- Acting for Two: Monica Rial voices both Seres/Celica Crowe and Bienfu. But since both characters never meet each other, Talking to Herself is averted.
- All-Star Cast: In Japanese, the main characters are voiced by renowned names such as Rina Sato, Daisuke Kishio, Satomi Sato, Toshiyuki Morikawa and Ami Koshimizu. The main antagonists are no less, being voiced by famous voice actors like Kenyuu Horiuchi, Yui Horie, Kazuya Nakai or Nobuo Tobita. Hell, even Velvet's brother is voiced by Rie Kugimiya, of all people.
- Ascended Fanon: The unofficial fix
was pinned by one of the official moderators of the game's steam forums.
- Cross-Dressing Voices: Azumi Asakura and Amber Connor as Laphicet in Japanese and English, respectively.
- Early-Bird Cameo: The fifth Japanese trailer reveals what Artorius looks like however we saw him in the first trailer for Tales of Zestiria the X
about a year earlier.
- Name's the Same: "Taliesin" is both the name of the largest city on Eastgand and the first name of Eizen's English voice actor.
- No Export for You: Zig-zagged. While all major regions get the PlayStation 4 version, the PlayStation 3 version is exclusive to Japan, and the PC version is available worldwide with the exception of Japan (except the Japanese voice track, which available to all language of the PC version). This actually hasn't caused too many bent feathers, as both the PS4 and PC versions are notably superior from a technical standpoint to the PS3 version.
- Playing Against Type: Cristina Valenzuela normally voices Nice Girls or more kid-friendly characters like Shantae. Here, she's voicing a rage-induced Anti-Hero hellbent on revenge.
- Promoted Fanboy: Both of Eleanor's voice actresses, Erica Mendez and Ami Koshimizu, were fans of the Tales Series before being cast.
- Relationship Voice Actor:
- In the Japanese version:
- Rina Sato and Satomi Arai were previously co-stars in A Certain Scientific Railgun. Ami Koshimizu, Satomi Sato and Azumi Asakura were also featured on the series, with the characters of Koshimizu and Asakura being rivals of Rina Sato's Mikoto.
- Daisuke Kishio gave voice to a character in the parent story of Railgun, A Certain Magical Index.
- Rina Sato, Ami Koshimizu, Daisuke Kishio, and Satomi Sato are all in Sailor Moon Crystal.
- Daisuke Kishio, Satomi Sato, Toshiyuki Morikawa and Yui Horie are all in Fairy Tail as well.
- Yukiko (Koshimizu) and Chie (Horie) are best friends in Persona 4, but looks like they'll be enemies in this game.
- Rina Sato and Tomoaki Maeno were also friends (and later a couple in one of the endings of the series) in Amagami. Here, however, they are enemies.
- Ami Koshimizu and Tomoaki Maeno end up being allies for real in The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV.
- In a hilarious case, Rina Sato and Toshiyuki Morikawa gave voice in the same year the game was released to Hayato Kawajiri and his father Kosaku Kawajiri (in truth Serial Killer Yoshikage Kira in disguise), respectively.
- Eizen's friendship with Rokurou makes them both Final Fantasy characters Sephiroth and Noel Kriess, respectively.
- This isn't the first Tales Game that had Eleanor and Shigure interact. As they were Fenimore and Moses respectively.
- In the English version:
- Velvet, Magilou, and Eleanor are voiced by Kotori, Eli, and Nico, respectively. Both Velvet's and Eleanor's voice actors are already acquainted as young boy hunters.
- All three of them are also members of the Warriors of Hope.
- Laphicet's (Amber Connor) and Teresa's voice actors did have a nice relationship as an inn family in High Lagaard.
- Velvet's and Teresa's voice actors were also the voices of Nova and Elle respectively in Tales of Xillia 2.
- Magilou's and Rokurou's voice actors did Lorelei and Lance respectively in Pokémon Generations.
- Oscar's and Teresa's voice actors were respectively Kenji and Natsuki, the protagonists of the film Summer Wars. Which makes their characters' BrotherSister Incest here all the more amusing.
- The voice actors of Artorius, Oscar, and Shigure are respectively Karamatsu, Jyushimatsu, and Todomatsu.
- Magilou's and Shigure's respective English voice actors were also Kaori and Kousei, though this time around it's the latter one who dies.
- Artorious and Melchior voiced Noctis and Ardyn, only now they seem to be on the same side.
- Velvet and Oscar being enemies here comes off as a notable contrast to another world where they got along much better and yet another completely different world were they were even together.
- Ironically, the next time Artorius and Oscar were working against a protagonist's group, this time around Velvet would be working with them.
- For both versions:
- In the Japanese version:
- Role Reprise: Given that Zaveid's one of the only character (aside from Eizen and Maotelus) that appears in both this game and Zestiria, both Kenjiro Tsuda and Ian Sinclair get to reprise their role as him, albeit now as an NPC/minor boss.
- Returning from Tales of Xillia, both Tsubasa Yonaga and Sam Riegel reprise their role as Jude Mathis, while both Miyuki Sawashiro and Minae Noji reprise their role as Milla Maxwell.
