• According to Neil Gaiman, in Hy Bender's The Sandman Companion, this issue is the one that rekindled his interest in comic books, years after his high school guidance counsellor had convinced him that comics were for kids. It was thus indirectly responsible for Gaiman deciding to write comics himself, and seeking Moore out as a mentor.
• The Monkey King first appeared in Jack Kirby's The Demon Issue 4.
