• Recycled Script: Moore used his revised origin of the Swamp Thing as the basis for that of Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen. In both cases, a normal human being is obliterated in a lab; his consciousness survives, and attempts to reconstruct the body he remembers, ending up with a Not Quite Human semblance thereof, but with the unexpected bonus of Nigh-Invulnerability and Physical God status.
• Referenced by...: In Hellblazer #193, the Swamp Thing recovers quickly from an attempted decapitation via shotgun by the possessed Chas, and says he's been informed that "you can't kill a vegetable by shooting it through the head," referencing Woodrue's Wham Line.
