  • Colbert Bump: Even though Super Smash Bros. does this for a lot of obscure Nintendo series, a surprising amount of players got into the series because of a very well-received remix-medley for Trendsetters in for Wii U. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate adding the song "Ring a Ding" from Styling Star also led to a boost in the series' exposure.
  • Creator Cameo: The choreographer for Styling Star, Mikiko of Elevenplay, appears near the end of the game as one of the player's clients.
  • No Export for You:
    • The boyfriend DLC in Trendsetters and many, many DLC featuring clothes inspired in Real Life Japanese brands didn't leave the West. There's exclusive DLC in Europe depending on the country, but it's much more lackluster.
    • Games after Trendsetters have not been released in South Korea.
    • Subverted in the case of Styling Star's release. It was only given a digital release on the Nintendo eShop in North America compared to the Japanese and European physical releases. This also means that Styling Star is legally unavailable in North America as of August 2022, since the 3DS eShop disabled adding new funds.
    • There are several manga and novel adaptations that have never left Japan.
  • Urban Legend of Zelda: There are a few persistent rumors that you can date and even get married if you perform certain "secret" actions in-game. While an update to Trendsetters did feature the ability to get a "Dream Boyfriend" among other things, this update has yet to extend outside of Japan.
