• Actor-Shared Background: Ansel Parios has Down's Syndrome like Cole Sibus. This was the reason why the production crew cast Cole.
• California Doubling: The series is set in Portland, but is actually filmed in Los Angeles due to Cobie Smulders wanting to be near her family. However, the pilot, filmed mostly in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, included a few scenes shot in Portland.
• Cast the Expert: In "Dex, Drugs, & Rock and Roll", punk rocker Fiona X is played by Ioanna Gika, of indie rock band Io Echo fame.
• Dueling Works: With Batwoman, another adaptation of Greg Rucka-penned material featuring a crimefighting LGBT woman who used to be in the military, which premiered less than two weeks after Stumptown.
• Fake American:
  • Cobie Smulders (Canadian) as Dex Parios.^note Seemingly going to be averted as of 2019 when Smulders mentioned (at least in interviews) that she has an American green card and is considering becoming an American citizen since her husband and two daughters are American.
  • Tantoo Cardinal is a Canadian of mixed Caucasian and Cree-Metis descent but plays Native American Sue-Lynn Blackbird.
• The Other Marty: Mark Webber was originally cast as Grey, but was later recast with Jake Johnson.
• Troubled Production: Delays related to the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the show from being ready to start production in the fall of 2020, leading to the effective cancellation of the show unless a different network or streaming service picks it up.
