• Acting for Two: Majel Barrett as Lwaxana Troi gets directions from Majel Barrett as the Enterprise computer.
• Alan Smithee: Tracy Tormé used the credit "Terry Devereaux" to express his dissatisfaction with the rewrites. This would actually be the last straw, as he'd quit the series after this, though Rick Berman did attempt to get him to return for Season 3.
• Awesome, Dear Boy: Mick Fleetwood was so enthusiastic about playing the Antedian dignitary, even though his face was completely hidden by a mask that made him look vaguely fishlike because he got to be portrayed as being beamed aboard the Enterprise. In fact, upon being told he'd have to shave his iconic beard to wear the mask, he did so on the condition that he'd get to be beamed up.
• Big Band: The song that plays at "Rex's Bar" is the 1940's Big Band classic "Moonlight Serenade", by Glenn Miller.
• Recast as a Regular: Robert O'Reilly, who plays "Scarface" would receive the recurring role of Klingon Chancellor Gowron starting in season 4's "Reunion" and continuing all the way through Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
