- Acting for Two: Obviously a necessity for everyone in the show other than lead actor Curt Mega, as is typical for a musical (although Joe Walker being Cast as a Mask to hide that the Deadliest Man Alive is the same person as Owen is an inversion). Word of God, though, is that in the ideal, unlimited-budget version of the show as a movie musical, the mysteriously all-knowing chanteuse in the Action Prologue would still be played by the same actress as Tatiana.
- The Danza: Many fans were surprised to find out that "Curt Mega as Curt Mega" isn't a joke and that the actor is, in fact, named Curt Mega in Real Life. Word of God is the Tin Can Brothers were at a loss for a suitably Awesome Mc Cool Name for their James Bond Expy and decided that Curt's real name was cool-sounding enough. ("Mega" is a Greek surname meaning "large".)
- Filmed Stage Production: Tin Can Brothers made the entire show available to watch on YouTube.
- Jews Playing Nazis: Dr. Baron von Nazi is played by Brian Rosenthal.
- Method Acting: Lauren Lopez insisted on smoking real cigarettes rather than fake ones for the show, partly because they helped deepen her voice to play Cynthia.
- Production Posse: This is the first full-length Tin Can Brothers stage show, and helped establish a Production Posse for their later projects. It was mostly cast from actors in the social orbit of Team Starkid who were located in the LA area, including Starkid regulars Lauren Lopez and Joe Walker, and Joe Moses' girlfriend Tessa Netting. Mary Kate Wiles had acted with Joey Richter in Muzzled: the Musical and School Of Thrones for Matthew Mercer's Will Save Productions, and this was her first major project with TCB; her troupe Shipwrecked Comedy would return the favor by casting Joey and Lauren in Poe Party later that year. Curt Mega, their star, was a friend of Team Starkid after acting on Glee with Darren Criss (where he played Blaine's fellow Warbler Nick). Esther Fallick had previously acted in sketches as the Tin Can Brothers' "intern" Al, and would later star in Team Starkid's project Movies, Musicals and Me.
- The music for the show was provided by musical duo TalkFine consisting of Clark Baxtresser and Pierce Siebers, who had previously provided the music for Starkid's Ani, and would later compose the music for Flop Stoppers and Wayward Guide for the Untrained Eye.
- The Other Darrin: After Joe Walker retired from acting in 2016, the plans for the 2020 reunion concert Spies Are Forever: In Concert at 54 Below involved having Broadway actors AJ Holmes, Carlos Valdes and Pomme Koch fill in for him on the DMA's songs.
- Promoted Fanboy: Spies Are Forever was produced four years after Tessa Netting and Curt Mega made this video in 2012, with Tessa and Curt making their debut in a "Starkid-adjacent" production acting alongside Joey Richter, Joe Walker and Lauren Lopez. Three years after that, Curt (and his wife Kim Whalen) would go on to officially become Starkid actors in Black Friday.
- Working Title: Hilariously, before they had to come up with an official title to put it on the soundtrack album, the creators' only title for "The Coldest Goodbye" was "Spies Are Forever (Sad)".
