Trivia / Space Harrier

• Referenced by...: The Sega Master System's error screen on Japanese consoles for turning it on without a cartridge inserted will play its own rendition of Space Harrier's main theme. It also features the scrolling checkerboard floor from the game.
• What Could Have Been: Originally, the game was designed so that the player controls a fighter jet, hence the "Harrier" name and the mock aircraft dashboard on the cabinet. Memory limitations of arcade hardware at the time led to it being changed to a human. The fighter jet idea was revived several years later with After Burner.
