• Troubled Production: Having just come off of Team America: World Police and feeling the pressure to make an exceptional year-end finale, Trey and Matt were inexplicably struck with writer's block, leaving the animators to do nothing for two of the show's six-day production schedule. The "woodland critters" idea was, at first, considered a bottom-of-the-barrel idea and Trey struggled to write it once the idea was finalized. It wasn't until they hit on the idea of the whole thing being a story that Cartman was telling that everything fell into place. Production continued smoothly and the episode is now considered the best South Park Christmas special ever.
