- Bad Export for You: The first Russian publisher Schwab contracted with ended up censoring Rhy's romance with Alucard—which she had to find out from a fan on twitter. Since this was a breach of contract, the rights reverted easily and Schwab sold them to a different publisher, but Russia's censorship laws still mean the book has to be shrinkwrapped and marked as 18+.
- Word of Gay: Schwab explained that Delilah could be genderfluid or non-binary in the modern day, but, as a native of 1819 London, lacks the cultural context to identify as such in the books.
