- Acting for Two: Tony Randall plays seven different characters, hence, the "7 Faces".
- Creator Killer: The film's failure at the box office resulted in George Pal not making another project for four years. It was the last film he directed.
- Dyeing for Your Art: Tony Randall shaved his head to play Dr. Lao. It made it easier to apply the make-up for the different characters he played.
- Fake Nationality: The Chinese Lao (not to mention the Turkish Apollonius, British Merlin, Greek Pan and Medusa, and Nepalese Snowman) are all played by European-American Randall. No wonder his accent "comes and goes."
- Stillborn Franchise: In January 1965 it was announced that Tony Randall would return in a follow up, but no sequel was ever made.
- What Could Have Been: Peter Sellers was originally going to play Dr. Lao but he was too busy to fit it into his schedule. Rod Taylor, Terry-Thomas and Dick Van Dyke were also considered.
