Trivia / Septicflesh

Go To

  • Creator's Oddball: Revolution DNA, while clearly influenced by the band's earlier Gothic Death/Doom sound, is an Industrial Metal album that eschews Spiros' signature guttural deathgrowls for higher-pitched, raspy vocals, and is also far more melodic than anything the group has ever put out. Aside from a few songs on the follow-up Sumerian Daemons and "Therianthropy" on The Great Mass, Septicflesh has not re-explored the sound from this album.
  • He Also Did: In addition to his work in the band, vocalist Spiros Antoniou is also an artist, and has done the artwork and photography for countless other metal bands, many of which will surprise you; Kamelot, Belphegor, Caliban, Draconian, Soilwork, Heaven Shall Burn, Moonspell, Nile, Paradise Lost, and Vader are only some of the big names he has provided artwork for. He also did the artwork for all the band's albums except for Mystic Places of Dawn and their reissues including the former. In 2002, he also briefly joined Thou Art Lord, a black/death metal project featuring important figures from Greece's extreme music scene, sharing vocal duties on their album DV8 with Rotting Christ singer Sakis Tolis.
    • Christos has a darkwave/ambient project named Chaostar, which Seth also assisted with briefly when they began through adding his vocals.
  • Old Shame: Guitarist Christos Antoniou stated in an interview that he is not very fond of the band's name, which was chosen when the members were teenagers, as he feels that it's a stereotypical Death Metal band name that doesn't fit with the band's aesthetic and lyrics. He went on to state that the only reason they haven't changed it is because it would be difficult to do so given their popularity.
