Trivia / Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time

Go To

  • Creator-Driven Successor: Ninja Gaiden fans consider this game a worthy successor to Ninja Gaiden 2004/Black and Ninja Gaiden II. Justified since Soleil Games is composed of former Team Ninja staff who left Koei Tecmo alongside series director and producer Tomonobu Itagaki (who also worked on Battle Through Time as "Supreme Advisor").
  • Dummied Out: The developers thought about adding in a special costume for Jack in which he wears his black wedding robes, but axed it in the final product. The option to choose it is still there once you beat the game on a difficulty other than Jack. Selecting it only makes Jack wear his classic gi.
  • In Memoriam: “In loving memory of Yasushi Maeda” at the end of the credits. Maeda was a designer at Tecmo that worked on the Dead or Alive series and the second 3D Ninja Gaiden game. Certain Tecmo staff members would later leave the company to form this game's developer, Soleil.
  • International Coproduction: This game is developed by Soleil (Japanese), and penned by the writers of the show, themselves (American).
  • Limited Special Collector's Ultimate Edition: Released through Limited Run Games, it comes with a physical copy of the game, a 7" statue of Jack, a double-sided poster, the game's soundtrack, a letter opener shaped like Jack's katana, and three art cards.
  • The Original Darrin: David Alan Grier comes back as the voice of Da Samurai after being replaced by Keegan-Michael Key in Season 5.
  • Posthumous Credit: Like the show’s finale, the game uses archival audio of Mako as Aku from the Opening Narration of the first four seasons and credits him as Past Aku.
  • Role Reprise: Many voice actors of the show (circa Season 5 for one case) reprise the roles of their characters in this game, such as Phil LaMarr as Jack, Greg Baldwin as Aku, John DiMaggio as the Scotsman and Zeke, Rob Paulsen as Rothchild, Tom Kenny as Scaramouche, Grey DeLisle as the Scotsman's Daughters (albeit mostly through partially-edited archival audio of Flora's voice) and Josephine, and Tara Strong as Ashi. They even went to the trouble of bringing back Richard McGonagle as the Lava Monster and B. J. Ward as Witch Hag.
  • Sequel Gap: This is the third Samurai Jack game, with a 16 year long gap between the release of Samurai Jack: The Shadow of Aku (2004) and this game (2020).
  • Sequel in Another Medium: The game’s plot serves as an interquel to the finale of season 5—and thus the finale of the whole series—with its Golden Ending adding onto the ending of the series.
