- Hostility on the Set: Reported to have a backstage beef with fellow AEW wrestler Eddie Kingston. The beef started with Sammy calling Eddie "fat" in one promo and in response, the latter attacked him behind the scenes. In an ironic twist, Eddie Kingston got suspended instead of Sammy Guevara because the latter's insult is part of his Jerk Jock character while the former's aggression is legitimate.
- Happened again with Andrade el Ídolo due to his own comments mentioning that Andrade is only relevant to wrestling because of Nepotism, and the latter replied with fighting him on Wednesday (which the fans thought would happen on-screen in Dynamite, but unfortunately the fight turned out to be legitimate). According to reliable sources, it seems that Andrade did punch Guevara in a desperate attempt for "El Ídolo" to get fired from AEW, but instead got suspended. Needless to say, Guevara has become a magnet for backstage drama.
- Role-Ending Misdemeanor: He double-booked himself on several MLW dates including SUPERFIGHT and was released shortly after for his unprofessionalism.
- Romance on the Set: Sammy is currently married to fellow AEW wrestler Tay Melo.
